CHRIS Guccione has moved into the main draw elimination round of the Channel Open, despite losing his final round of qualifying.
Guccione lost 7-5 5-7 7-6 (7-4) to South Africa’s Wesley Moodie but advanced as a lucky loser.
Australia’s No.2 will play Spain’s Feliciano Lopez for a berth in the round-robin draw at the $US416,000 ($525,000) hybrid tournament.
Lleyton Hewitt is seeded second behind American James Blake but must overcome a hamstring injury to take his place in the draw.
Hewitt, who this week dropped out of the world’s top 20 for the first time in his career, lost last year’s final to Blake.
