Georgia Tennis Players CAN See the Forest through the Trees

-Tennis Players Network visits Four Seasons Racquet Club in Snellville, Georgia and leaves’ feeling like a day was spent in the mountains!

Georgia tennis stands on its own just the way it is, with over 110,120 competing tennis players playing tennis in neighborhoods and at large posh tennis clubs. However, there is much more available to players; as a tennis player you really can’t always see the forest through the trees. This analogy came to me like a beautiful sunny day the first time I drove up to Four Seasons Racquet Club: tucked away

in the woods of Snellville Georgia.

We play tennis for our own personal reasons. Many books have been written to assist the competing tennis player to learn to enjoy the game of tennis: not the win, but the entire journey. Let me ask you - Can you see the forest through the trees?

My love for the game is tremendous as owner of Tennis Players Network. However, I changed into a genuine tennis lover after playing on this immaculate clay court in a pick-up game with members of Four Seasons. After two hours with my racquet and surrounded by rustic beauty, I had not one thought of being miles from bustling Atlanta; I realized that the love of the game is more than hitting the ball on a given day, or winning a singles match. It is about smelling Georgia’s fresh air with leaves blowing all around: it is sweating, laughing, smiling and teasing someone whose serve is off. Georgia tennis is almost better than words can describe for us physically, but also for us mentally. For me, playing at Four Seasons is the equivalent of “an apple a day keeps the doctor away.”

The owner, Doug Pritchard, is undoubtedly the reason for the atmosphere at Four Seasons. (Let me add that Mitch Godwin is equally relaxed and an incredible pro with gorgeous strokes) Doug comes out of his log cabin club house with a smile so inviting; I could have spent the entire day feeling that I had been on vacation. The eight courts are nicely groomed clay and surrounded by beautiful hardwoods. Spending the morning at Four Seasons once a week and playing in a relaxed environment will change Atlanta tennis players for the better. I am proof of this; although don’t think Doug is going to scream out to all of you players, that is not his style. He is humble.

Maybe we really can’t see the forest through the trees, until we play tennis at Four Seasons!
