TOMMY Haas has pulled out of the ATP Masters Series Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, citing a sinus infection, tournaments organisers have announced.

Haas, the world No.36, retired from a quarter-final match against world No.1 Roger Federer in Indian Wells, California, last week for the same reason.

The German, 29, who seemed to be returning to the form that saw him rise

as high as No.2 in the world when he beat Andy Roddick in Indian Wells, was replaced in the main draw in Miami by Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, from Spain.

Haas admitted earlier this month that he didn’t think he would ever return to his peak after undergoing a third shoulder operation and a series of poor subsequent results.
